Did you know, Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi never aspired to be an actor? “I wanted to get into graphic designing in films,” said Emraan on the Tara Sharma Show hosted by actress Tara Sharma.
And he adds, “I did a special effects course and then assisted in films. Acting happened by accident when Mahesh Bhatt offered me Footpath, in which I was cast as a supporting actor.”
Talking about Emraan who worked with Tara in Aksar, the latter says, “I had read Emraan’s book The Kiss Of Life before our chat and Emraan was very touched that I had, as I asked questions based on what I had read. The reason to do an episode like this is not just to share touching stories, but also to perhaps try and help anyone in our audience who may be going through tough times." Emraan chose a piece of furniture for auction on the show and the money was given to the TATA Memorial Hospital.
More on the show, we are told that it's set to go international. “It is exciting as the encouragement post various meetings about the show in Los Angeles made me happy as I was amazed by the response,” Tara informs, adding, "Though the show is rooted in India, but as it is in English and the topics we address in the family and parenting space are universal, I always felt the audience could be global.”
Tara was quite flattered by the response from people across the globe that encouraged her to make it global. She informs, “Analytics on YouTube channel revealed that 40-50% of views are coming from the US and UK.We had few good meetings with top TV and film companies who expressed interest in licensing my format and or helping with guests and making my show global.”
Tara also met popular singer and lyricist Robin Thicke and shot a selfie video for her show. “We are trying to make it work either in Mumbai or LA and if not this season, then next. We will be going back to LA after I finish the shoot in Mumbai to follow up on all these meetings. I do think content for a global audience coming out of India is happening and I believe the show is on that path!” she concludes.
The Tara Sharma Show’ on Star World and YouTube is in its fourth year.
