Now, another first for Yash Raj's Befikre

Setting the trend for entertainment conversations in India, Twitter has launched the first-ever emoji for a Bollywood film. And Yash Raj Film’s Befikre starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor slated for release on December 9 is the lucky one.

From November 10, fans in India have been given an opportunity to join the conversation around the film and simply Tweet by using #UdeDilBefikre, #Befikre, #BefikreOn9th, #BefikreOn9thDec and #BeBefikre to use the specially designed emoji curated by Twitter. The emoji appears next to the hashtag in the Tweet and is designed like the Eiffel Tower of pink hearts, bringing alive the Parisian essence of the film.

Befikre directed by Aditya Chopra had its trailer launch at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Using Periscope, the Befikre team live-streamed the launch from Paris to give their fans back home in India an interactive, real-time experience and a chance to engage with the leading actors. More than 3000 fans participated in the conversation with Ranveer and Vaani using the hashtag #BefikreTrailer.

Forget Kamaal R Khan, the two releases provide for a cracker of a Diwali

Forget the controversies thanks to a rabble-rouser of the 'stature' of Kamaal R Khan who survives on malicious and inflammatory statements on the social media. But this Diwali from a movie-goer's point of view, would be one worth looking forward to.

Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashes with actor-director Ajay Devgn's ambitious Shivaay. Well, you may not have a Khan in the picture (well, well we do have one though thankfully he isn't part of either of the two movies), but a Karan Johar or an Ajay Devgn is a force to reckon with in the industry. For Karan, he gets behind the camera for the second time without a Shah Rukh Khan, after Student of the Year (2012). A National Award winning actor like Ajay tries his luck as a director for the second time after a convoluted U Me Aur Hum (2008) that had Ajay starring as well with his better-half Kajol.

For both Karan and Ajay it's the phrase 'second time' that is common. But more than that, it's a Rs 200 crore revenue that trade pundits would be looking forward to. Apart from Sultan that has crossed the Rs. 300-crore-mark, we haven't had a big blockbuster even keeping in mind Akshay Kumar's Rustom that's on a high at the box-office.

Both Karan and Ajay haven't left anything unexplored to ensure their films rake in the moolah. If Karan has an ensemble cast comprising Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan, Ajay closed in on never-seen-before action sequences and picturesque locales of the Balkan mountains, Uttarakhand and Hyderabad. In terms of locales, Karan cannot be ignored either, as he shot his film in London, Paris, Vienna apart from portions in Rajasthan and Mumbai.

Not much about the story lines of the two films are known, but Karan's film looks to be an emotional drama, while Ajay would shuttle between emotion and action. For film buffs, it couldn't have been a more cracker of a Diwali. The Ranbir-Ash on-screen chemistry is already the talk-of-the-town.

The importance of the two big films from the business' point of view was always a given, but perhaps out of the blue, a catalyst like Kamaal R Khan has only pushed it a bit further out of the blue. However to expect two big names in the industry to fall back upon a NOBODY to create a buzz for their respective films would be like being unfair on both. Karan and Ajay are respected personalities having entertained the audiences over the years. Who has offered money to Kamaal is irrelevant, what is important is that the ones passionate about films are in for a treat this Diwali.

Forget Kamaal R Khan and let the buck stop here. He is becoming a household name for no achievement worth applauding. Let's focus on Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and hope they provide full-fledged entertainment and make this festive season a memorable one.
