Giving in to protests in Punjab, the producers of the film The Legend of Michael Mishra have
removed the controversial dialogue about Maharishi Balmiki from the
film. This movie based in Patna stars Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, his son
Kayoze Irani and Aditi Rao Hydari and is currently in the theatres.
The Punjab government had earlier banned the release of the film in the state for two months after finding the dialogues objectionable towards the Balmiki community. The producers say they respect religious sentiments and after seeing the protests, they have readily agreed and removed the dialogue form the film.
However, there's a sense of dismay too that prevails in the minds of the producers as Kishor Arora, from Eyecandy films which produces the movie says, "We have a valid Censor certification and voluntarily removed the objectionable matter as we do not wish to hurt anyone's sentiments. Its very sad that in spite of all this we are finding it tough to exhibit the film. Where do we go to seek redressal?"
