Diligently browsing through a list of over 3,000 film entries the Preview Team of the 7th Jagran Film Festival has concluded its selection process. The films include the best of Indian and world cinema. The festival begins in New Delhi next month and will travel to places like Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Dehradun, Hisar, Ludhiana, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Raipur, Indore, Bhopal and Mumbai.
An initiative of the Jagran Group, the festival will screen films like Mahana (New Zealand), Thank you for bombing (Austria), Discordia (Romania) Chatô - The King of Brazil (Brazil) among others.
Talking about Discordia (still above), the festival’s Strategic Consultant, Manoj Srivastava says, “It’s a unique film that actually impressed the preview team because of its great cinematic treatment. The film is low on intensity but high on attraction.”
Director Lee Tamahori renowned for films like Die Another Day (2002) and State of the Union explores in Mahana, the lives of two Maori families, the Mahanas and the Poatas, in New Zealand in the 1960s who make a living out of shearing sheep on the east coast.
So plenty to look forward to this year.
